About Local Government Portal

To celebrate the 10 Years of His Majesty’s Reign and to commemorate the Silver Jubilee of the establishment of Gewog Tshogde, a web based Local Government Portal is launched by Hon’ble Prime Minister, His Excellency Tshering Tobgay during the inaugural of the 9th Local Government Chairpersons’ Conference in Phuentsholing, Bhutan.

Local Government Portal is one stop place for providing Local Government information especially of the Gewogs. It is a platform where Local Government can profile, document and archive their achievement. Thus it will provide an overview of the development achievements of the Local Governments. The Dzongkhags and Gewogs will have the full authority, responsibility and accountability of the data and information hosted on this website although the portal will be centrally hosted for cost efficiency gains.

Local Government Portal is one of the initiatives to promote transparency to enhance public participation to deepen decentralization and local governance. This will also lower the administrative cost and burden of providing local government information time and again to different stakeholders over the years. The portal is designed to complement the existing Government Performance Management System by providing most of the key indicators.

A user training over the coming months will be conducted. As a part of the user training, data and information will be fed into the Local Government Portal after which it will be done annually by the Gewogs. This portal is not meant to replace the existing information system created by different agencies but is expected to only complement.

We hope this portal would serve the purpose of one stop place of providing Local Government Information. Wish all the viewers and users a very happy and successful 2018.
